 When God Taught Me to Serve 

Hi, I’m Clo. I am a girl who was initially reluctant to go to church, but after turning six years old, I started attending and actively participating in church service. Since childhood, I have attended the GPIB Maranatha Church in Bandung; yes, I am a Christian.

​I did a lot of ministries when I was little, one of which was singing during Christmas. Back then, I was very nervous about singing in front of many people, but that’s where my journey began. After I dared to perform in public, my self-confidence grew, and ministry became part of my daily life. I would go home after school, and then head back to church for ministry practice.

​At the age of eleven, I was assigned another role for Christmas, but this time I served as a dancer and an actor in the Christmas drama about being grateful for what we have. From that drama, I learned a lot about the importance of being thankful for our current blessings. Now, I frequently serve in the youth class. Besides serving, I also participate in many activities organized by my church, although I cannot join all of them as some events coincide with my school schedule.

​Of course, I have faced many challenges during my ministry journey. Sometimes I feel lazy about attending practice because there are no friends, or the practice feels boring, among other reasons. However, God often warns me through various things, sometimes even through my own conscience, making me feel uneasy. Other times, the warning comes through people around me; for example, my older sister often scolds me if I don't go to church for practice.

​I really want to become a singer in the adult church choir. Therefore, I am practicing my vocals frequently so that I can be a church singer someday. I often hear people say that the voice of a church singer is blessed. Besides all that, I also truly wish I could inspire more people to be active in church; I think that is the coolest thing.

​To those of you who are reading this lengthy quote, never forget God, no matter where you are, whatever your circumstances, and whoever you are with. Serving God is not an option; serving Him is an absolute must for us. 🌟 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23 🌟

​If you feel called to start serving, do not hesitate to begin, just like in the story of Jeremiah, who felt he was too young to minister. Prophet Jeremiah was called by God in his youth to be a prophet to Judah and other nations. God affirmed that He had known and appointed Jeremiah before he was born. Jeremiah initially refused, arguing that he was too young and unskilled in speaking. This story is found in 💝 Jeremiah 1:4-10 💝.
